C&P Committees 2019-2020

 

Committee Chair Description
Advisory/Philanthropy Ernie Pock The purpose of this committee is to oversee the philanthropic efforts of the association.  Working with the Board of Directors and subject to their final approval, this committee will determine donations of association funds to local/national charities/organizations as well as any in-kind donations of product, labor or rounds of golf.  
Affiliate Bill Stevens, Joe Traficano The purpose of this committee is to represent the best interests of affiliate members and engage them in discussions to better their experience while increasing participation and sponsorship dollars.  
Assistant TBD The purpose of this committee is to create assistant superintendent programs and services that are beneficial to career advancement.  Additionally, the committee will be responsible for identifying future board members and leaders and put them on a path that will ensure their future success.  
Education Marc Snyder The purpose of this committee is to set up educational sessions for monthly meetings. The speakers should be chosen for their ability to provide appropriate and meaningful information to the membership of the association.  All education is subject to the Board of Directors final approval. 
Finance: Executive Officers The purpose of this committee is to assist in preparing the association's annual budget, submit the budget for board approval, review monthly financial statements adjusting accordingly and conduct an annual audit of the chapter's finances reporting to the general membership at the annual meeting.  
Gov. Relations Rory Van Poucke The purpose of this committee to provide guidance, lobbying and outreach both locally and nationally on issues of advocacy and compliance to the greater Arizona golf industry.  Additionally, the committee should work closely with Arizona's other normative golf associations to represent the industries best interests in the Arizona State Legislature.  
Hospitality Mike Gracie The purpose of this committee is foster a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at all Cactus & Pine GCSA events.  Duties may include greeting, outreach to new members welcoming them to the association and assisting the Board of Directors/Chapter Executive with the planning and set-up of all social functions and hospitality related events.  
Membership Erik Ostlund The purpose of this committee is to work with the Board of Directors and the Chapter Executive to create programs that drive new members to the association while retaining current members through expansion of current programs and benefits.  
Nominating Executive Officers The purpose of this committee is to Identify and present to the membership the nominees for open Board of Director positions.  Additional duties include assimilating nominee background information and in the event of a member running for the GCSAA National Board of Directors, a letter from the chapter indicating support.  
PR & Publications Gabe Towers The purpose of this committee is to promote the best interests of the Cactus & Pine GCSA and its membership.  Duties may include but are not limited to outreach to the media, community and regulatory agencies as well working with other allied golf organizations to promote the golf maintenance industry.  Committee members may be asked to contribute articles and assist with monthly e-newsletters and other communication materials as requested by the Chapter Executive. 
S&R/Fundraising Shawn Emerson The purpose of this committee is to generate and solicit funds for scholarship, foundation and turfgrass research needs in Arizona.  These funds may be local or in some cases national.  Additionally, the committee will be responsible for identifying scholarship recipients and vetting research projects that have applied for funding from the association.  
Tournaments Andrew Hitchcock The purpose of this committee is to create a tournament schedule and formats that appeal to all sections of the membership, reach out to host sites to communicate tournament needs and conduct the events with the assistance of the host course staff and superintendent.
